The primary reason for this drastic decline in probability is Senegal's dominant 5-0 victory over Iraq, which pushed South Korea down to seventh place in the competition among third-placed teams. Senegal secured three points with this win, maintaining their third-place position in their group and climbing to fifth in the rankings of third-placed teams. This has put South Korea in a disadvantageous position in the race to be among the top eight third-placed teams eligible for the Round of 16.

In addition to the Senegal-Iraq match result, outcomes from other groups have also impacted South Korea's scenarios for advancing to the Round of 16. An upset occurred in Group E when Ecuador defeated Germany 2-1. The results of the matches between Japan and Sweden in Group F, and Paraguay and Australia in Group D, also prevented favorable scenarios for South Korea from materializing.
