Jang Seungjo's Duality: Villain in 'Wonderful World'

Actor Jang Seung-jo is making his presence felt by showcasing two different types of villainous dual roles in the Netflix original series 'You Killed Me' and the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Wonderful New World'.

In 'You Killed Me,' he played two characters who looked alike but lived completely different lives. As the financier Noh Jin-pyo, he portrayed a character obsessed with domestic violence and control, and as the illegal Chinese immigrant Jang Kang, he depicted a character with a fierce survival instinct. By differentiating their speech, demeanor, and actions, he created two distinct characters with the same face.

In the currently airing 'Wonderful New World,' he is once again taking on a dual role, playing the modern businessman Choi Mun-do and the Joseon Dynasty Crown Prince Lee Jae. Choi Mun-do is a character who meticulously plans schemes, creating tension with his restrained acting, while Lee Jae is depicted as a ruthless individual who stops at nothing to gain power.

He is being praised for showing different faces in each work through his performances that shift between modern and historical settings, and between characters from high society and the underbelly of society.

'Wonderful New World' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
