Kang Yewon Faces 1.1 Billion Won Debt Crisis

It has been reported that actress Kang Ye-won is experiencing difficulties due to the debts left by her father, who passed away in April. Kang Ye-won's daily life was revealed on the SBS entertainment program 'My Little Old Boy,' which aired on the 14th.

While reviewing documents at a law firm, Kang Ye-won was shocked to learn from her legal representative that her father had left behind debts amounting to approximately 1 billion to 1.1 billion won. The legal representative asked about her ability to repay, stating, "​You need to pay back about 300 million won in May. The repayment deadline has already passed." Kang Ye-won confessed that she was short of 300 million won in cash due to medical expenses and other costs. The legal representative added that if she couldn't repay, the debt could increase further, and there might be additional personal debts.

Upon learning this, Kang Ye-won burst into tears and expressed her feelings, saying, "I didn't know it was this much." The legal representative offered comfort, noting that many people struggle after discovering unexpected debts after their parents' death. Kang Ye-won conveyed her hardship, saying it's something she should naturally do as a daughter, but "​I just don't know what to do, and it's difficult."

The legal representative explained the "limited acceptance" system, which is a measure for situations where debts exceed inherited assets, guiding her that this system allows repayment only within the scope of inherited assets. They also advised that it would be best for her mother to apply for limited acceptance and sell the apartment to pay off the debts, while Kang Ye-won and her sibling should consider renouncing the inheritance.

Kang Ye-won choked up, saying, "It's the house our family of four has lived in for over 30 years since I was in high school," and expressed that "​my heart aches so much" at the prospect of having to sell their home.
