Jin Ki Joo Quits Samsung, Becomes Reporter

Actress Jin Ki-joo's past email to employees upon leaving Samsung SDS is once again drawing attention. An online community post titled "Actress Jin Ki-joo's Email to Seniors When Leaving Samsung" has surfaced. In the email, Jin Ki-joo stated, "I consider it great fortune to have met so many wonderful people at my first workplace," and although it wasn't easy to decide to leave, "​I bravely made the decision because I have a dream that I will regret not pursuing in 10 or 20 years if I don't try now." She added, "​Adaptation breeds a terrifying resignation. So, I drew my sword before it was too late."

Jin Ki-joo also conveyed, "I hope to experience more in a bigger world and meet you all again," and "​Although I am now someone outside the Samsung fence, I will occasionally contact you to check in." Finally, she concluded the email with greetings, "​I wish you always good health and happiness. Thank you once again for all the memories and care you've given me."

Jin Ki-joo recently appeared on the tvN variety show "You Quiz on the Block," where she shared her story of becoming an actress after working as an employee at a large corporation like Samsung, a broadcast journalist, and a supermodel. After graduating from Chung-Ang University's Department of Computer Science, she joined Samsung SDS, recalling that she found the new employee training and education more enjoyable than her actual work at the time.

Regarding her reason for leaving, Jin Ki-joo shared, "One day, my mother asked, 'If there's something you want to do, do it,' as she noticed my expression worsening during my commute." She confessed, "At the time, I secretly wanted to become an actress, but I was afraid of being ridiculed, so I didn't tell anyone around me."

Before becoming an actress, Jin Ki-joo worked as a reporter for a local broadcasting station after leaving Samsung SDS. She then debuted as an actress after participating in a supermodel selection contest. Regarding the acting profession, she expressed her affection, stating, "It's the most unstable, it greatly damages self-esteem, and I receive the most wounds, but it's the most interesting, so I like it. It's what I want to do best." Having become an actress after several career changes, she expressed satisfaction with her life as an actress, saying, "​No other work comes to mind that I want to do."
