So Ji Sub Returns as Boss After 13 Years

Actor So Ji-sub is returning to an SBS drama after 13 years, and the poster for his new series, "Chief Kim," has been released. "Chief Kim" is a revenge action drama about an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous man to get his daughter back. Ahead of its premiere, the drama is garnering significant attention, ranking 5th in TV drama news and 7th in buzzworthiness.

So Ji-sub plays Chief Kim, who is disguised as an ordinary employee at a mid-sized savings bank but is actually an agent dispatched for special operations. In the released poster, he appears in a dignified suit and glasses, revealing a determined resolve with the tagline, "Don't mess with the guy in glasses." Blood splatters on his suit hint at the blend of everyday life and action-packed combat, heightening anticipation.

The drama "Chief Kim" is an adaptation of the Naver webtoon of the same name, brought together by writer Nam Dae-jung, director Lee Seung-young, and rookie director Lee So-eun. So Ji-sub's return to SBS after 13 years since "Master's Sun" is scheduled for its first broadcast on Friday, June 26th, at 9:50 PM.

Following the Netflix series "The Trunk," So Ji-sub will showcase another action transformation in "Chief Kim." He takes on the role of Chief Kim, a former North-South Korean intelligence agent who re-enters a dangerous world to protect his daughter. The released stills reveal his dual nature: a caring family man seen preparing his daughter's meal while wearing a floral apron, and the awakening of his hidden instincts when his daughter is in danger.

"Chief Kim" presents an "Appa Universe" centered around fathers fighting to protect their families. In addition to So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon plays Sung Han-soo, a taekwondo dojo owner and former taekwondo gold medalist, and Yoon Kyung-ho portrays Park Jin-chul, known as the "God of War" in the past, embodying distinctive fatherly characters. They get caught up in a major incident and return to fighting to protect their families.
