The Netflix series "The Bequeathed" is continuing its global success, and lead actor Kim Mu-yeol is gaining attention from international stars, becoming a hot topic. Hollywood actor and former professional wrestler John Cena posted a photo of Kim Mu-yeol on his social media, which appears to be a reaction to Kim Mu-yeol being called "​The Korean John Cena" among international fans. Kim Mu-yeol responded with a comment using John Cena's catchphrase, and the official Netflix headquarters account also added to the fun atmosphere by leaving a comment saying, "Hey, twin."

"The Bequeathed" depicts the activities of the Teachers' Rights Protection Agency, established to rectify the educational field that has collapsed due to students, teachers, and parents who cross the line. Despite controversy surrounding the original webtoon before its release, the drama has received positive reviews by focusing on realistic educational issues and a satisfying plot. Kim Mu-yeol plays Na Hwa-jin, the supervisor of the Teachers' Rights Protection Agency, leading the drama with his intense charisma and action acting, with viewers commenting, "​He's met his life's character."

"The Bequeathed" has ranked among the top TV shows globally on Netflix, gaining popularity not only in Korea but also in various countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Taiwan, and has also secured a top spot in the U.S. rankings. Domestically, senior actress Kim Hye-soo also left a fire emoji comment on Kim Mu-yeol's social media post, sending her support. With the global success of "​The Bequeathed" beyond the original controversy, the nickname "​The Korean John Cena," Kim Hye-soo's support, and the enthusiasm of international fans, Kim Mu-yeol's presence is also growing.

Director Hong Jong-chan expressed his satisfaction with actor Kim Mu-yeol's performance, stating he was pleased to capture new aspects of the actor that had not been shown before. He also mentioned receiving a text message from actress Kim Hye-soo saying she was happy that Kim Mu-yeol was well utilized in the project and that the project itself was doing well. Director Hong emphasized that Kim Mu-yeol richly portrayed the playful and flexible side of the character Na Hwa-jin and that his respect and consideration in his interactions with rookie actors were a great help to the production.

Director Hong revealed that "The Bequeathed" aimed to tell a story about "​the existence of good adults." Just as Minister of Education Choi Kang-seok takes the hand of the disheartened Na Hwa-jin, the drama intended to show the role of the Teachers' Rights Protection Agency in helping victims stand up again, through Na Hwa-jin becoming a good adult to Im Han-lim, a supervisor who was a victim of school violence. Director Hong explained his reason for tackling youth issues again after his previous work "​Juvenile Justice" by stating that stories about youth are ultimately stories about society as a whole, and that various relationships and themes can be contained within a school drama.
