Lee Sangsoon Returns as DJ After Father-in-Law's Passing

Singer and guitarist Lee Sang-soon will return to his radio DJ position after a temporary absence due to his father-in-law's passing. Lee Sang-soon will host MBC FM4U's 'Perfect Day, Lee Sang-soon' on the afternoon of the 15th.

He was absent from his radio schedule on the 13th and 14th due to his father-in-law's funeral, and during this period, singer Thomas Cook filled in as a special DJ. Thomas Cook has a connection with Lee Sang-soon, as he regularly appears on the Wednesday corner 'Gen Z's Music' and has worked with him.

Lee Sang-soon's wife, singer Lee Hyori, was also scheduled to appear on the 'Cheong Live' corner on the 14th, but was unable to attend due to her father's death. At the time, an MBC representative stated that "(Lee Sang-soon and Lee Hyori) would be away until the funeral was concluded." Lee Sang-soon decided to return after completing the funeral procedures, including the procession on the 14th, and regaining his composure.

Earlier, Lee Hyori's father, the late Lee Jung-kwang, passed away on the 12th. Lee Sang-soon, along with his wife Lee Hyori, was listed as a chief mourner and received visitors at the wake. Musical actress Ok Joo-hyun and other Fin.K.L members were reported to have visited the wake to comfort Lee Hyori. The funeral procession was held on the morning of the 14th, and the burial site is in the family cemetery in Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.

Lee Hyori debuted as a member of Fin.K.L in 1998 and transitioned to a solo artist in 2003, solidifying her unique position with numerous hit songs. She shared a personal story and mentioned her father in the song 'Barber's Daughter' from her 2008 full-length album. She also revealed her father's illness on the tvN variety show 'Canada Check-in' in 2022.
