Park Mi-sun Returns to TV After Cancer Treatment

Broadcaster Park Mi-sun is positively considering a return to broadcasting activities after her battle with breast cancer. Her agency, Cube Entertainment, revealed that she has received an offer to be an MC for MBN's new entertainment program, "Burning Family" (tentative title), and is reviewing it favorably. The program, which aims to capture the daily lives of celebrity families, is scheduled to air in June. Expectations are high as it is reported that Park Mi-sun's husband, broadcaster Lee Bong-won, will also appear on the show.

If Park Mi-sun joins "Burning Family," it will mark her first regular appearance in about a year and six months since TV Chosun's "Now I'm Alone" concluded in December 2023. It will also be her first broadcast comeback since announcing her breast cancer diagnosis. Park Mi-sun was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in December 2023, underwent surgery, and has been receiving chemotherapy. Her health has reportedly improved recently. She shared her current condition on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" last November, receiving public support.

Park Mi-sun temporarily halted all broadcasting activities in January of last year due to health reasons and announced her battle with breast cancer through her agency in August of the same year. In November, she appeared on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," revealing her hair had shortened due to chemotherapy and stating, "I appeared to report that I'm alive. I am currently undergoing medication treatment." Recently, she shared news of her return to filming on her social media, writing, "Some are worried and telling me not to work yet, but I plan to return to the set slowly and gently. Since this is a lifelong battle, living my daily life is important. I plan to walk slowly, without rushing."

Park Mi-sun was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer during a comprehensive check-up in December 2023 and underwent surgery. Following the surgery, lymph node metastasis was confirmed, and she continued with chemotherapy. After a year-long hiatus, she shared the side effects she experienced during chemotherapy on "You Quiz," including hospitalization due to pneumonia, hives, reduced sensation in her hands and feet, and voice loss. Fortunately, her health has reportedly improved significantly recently. On SBS's "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 – You Are My Destiny," which aired on the 14th, her husband Lee Bong-won stated, "(The chemotherapy) treatment is all finished, and she is currently taking medication and monitoring her condition."

Park Mi-sun married Lee Bong-won in 1993 and they have one son and one daughter. During her hiatus, she consistently communicated with fans through her personal social media and YouTube channel. In recently released photos, she sports a white, short haircut, a result of chemotherapy, and a bright smile, showing a healthier appearance that has garnered support from fans. Netizens have welcomed her return with comments such as, "Glad to see you looking healthy," "The white short hair looks so cool," and "We support your slow and steady recovery."
