K-Trot Goes Global: MBN's International Push

Kim Si-jung, MBN's Head of Production, revealed the viewing points for the finale of the self-produced male trot survival program 'Moomyeong Legend' (Legend of the Unknown) and cheered on the participants' activities. 'Moomyeong Legend' began with 99 contestants, and the final 10 advanced to the finals, where the ultimate winner and TOP7 will be decided in the last episode.

Director Kim Si-jung highlighted the contestants' "life's masterpiece" performances as a key viewing point for the finale. He stated, "Up until now, it was over 90% about the singing, but in the final episode, you'll be able to hear songs filled with the contestants' sincere stories." He added, "You can look forward to an audition that's like a drama."

The intention behind 'Moomyeong Legend' was to capture "the stories of the unknown who want to become legends." Director Kim explained, "I wanted to give opportunities not only to those with singing talent but also to contestants who have the earnest desire and desperate stories of wanting to become legends." He expressed his emotion at witnessing the contestants grow with each stage and gain fans, stating that these growth stories provide courage and strength to live for the viewers.

The final score will be determined by 64% viewer votes out of a total of 5,000 points. Director Kim emphasized, "We increased the viewer vote ratio to highlight the meaning of the public directly choosing the winner." He stressed that the competition "​will proceed fairly without subjective intervention from the production team." He also added that viewership ratings are on the rise and are expected to peak in the final episode.

Director Kim mentioned the importance of both famous and unknown singers, explaining that 'Moomyeong Legend' is not solely a program for unknown artists. He said, "I wanted to capture the stories of singers who were once famous but faced difficulties, and are now challenging themselves again to become legends." He stated, "I wanted to give courage to those who have lost their dreams or are struggling."
