Park Bo Young Tackles First Crime Genre Role

Park Bo-young takes on her first crime genre role. The Disney+ original series '​Goldland' is a golden desire survival thriller about 'Hee-joo' (Park Bo-young), who gets her hands on 150 billion won worth of gold bars from a smuggling organization, and struggles to keep the gold all to herself amidst a chaotic mess of greed and betrayal.

'Goldland' features a cast of reliable actors including Park Bo-young, Kim Sung-chul, Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Hee-won, Moon Jeong-hee, and Lee Kwang-soo, and marks a collaboration between director Kim Seong-hun and writer Hwang Jo-yoon.

Park Bo-young plays 'Kim Hee-joo', a customs officer caught up in a gold bar smuggling incident, showcasing a completely different side of herself. She portrays a multi-dimensional character who, from an ordinary customs officer, becomes the center of a massive desire worth 150 billion won overnight, gradually transforming.

Park Bo-young, who stated, "I don't really show a smiling face because it's a face that's trying to survive no matter what," is expected to add tension by densely portraying human nature and desires that crumble in the face of life threats. She is anticipated to draw viewers into a narrative of intense desire by three-dimensionally depicting Hee-joo's dilemma of having to suffocate others to survive.

Park Bo-young's bold transformation, shedding her existing lovable image, is also noteworthy. The rough and ruthless face she will show, after being loved for her bright and warm characters, foreshadows the birth of a powerful character through gradually crumbling emotional lines and changes in her cold gaze.
