Joo Se-bin learned her birth secret through a genetic test. In the 14th episode of TV Chosun's weekend drama 'Doctor Shin,' the process of Geum Ba-ra (played by Joo Se-bin) becoming suspicious of her paternal relationship with Paul Kim (played by Ji Young-san) was depicted.

While house-sitting for Paul Kim at his request, Geum Ba-ra accidentally discovered a family album. Her attention was captured by a photo of a woman who looked very much like her. Furthermore, through Paul Kim's diary, which contained the words, "I just want to find my daughter," she learned that Hyun Ran-hee (played by Song Ji-in) and Paul Kim were lovers in the past, and that Mo-mo (played by Baek Seo-ra) had an older sister named 'Kim Jin-ju.'

Harboring suspicions, Geum Ba-ra requested a genetic test using Paul Kim's hair and toothbrush.
