Hidden Singer 8: Yoonha Fan Victory

Singer Younha finished as the runner-up on JTBC's "Hidden Singer 8" after being outmatched by a vocal mimic. Younha, who was ranked as the number one most anticipated singer by viewers, was unfortunately defeated in a competition against mimics who sounded more like her than she did.

In the early part of the broadcast, Younha expressed her confidence in front of the hidden judges. Ayumi confessed her fan admiration, and Paul Kim was certain he could identify Younha's voice with 100% accuracy. Younha herself predicted she would receive over 60 votes if she reached the finals, even making a pledge to "dance to an H.O.T. song if I get less than 60 votes," which raised expectations. However, the atmosphere quickly turned tense when Song Eun-yi mentioned the "​Hidden Singer ghost story" of many original singers being eliminated in the second round of their respective seasons.

In the first round, Younha was shocked by the voice of a mimic who displayed a high level of accuracy from the very first phrase. Although the hidden judges were confused, Younha was able to advance to the second round after MC Jun Hyun-moo exercised his discretion to allow a replay of the first round. While singing the song "Password 486" in the second round, Younha revealed her nervousness, saying, "I've lost my mind." Lee Soo-young offered advice, stating, "If you don't anchor yourself, you'll fall." Despite the tension, Younha advanced to the third round, avoiding elimination.

The third round featured the more challenging song "We Broke Up Today." The vocal mimics demonstrated their deep fandom by sharing stories of how Younha's songs helped them succeed in their careers, or how they even gave up childcare and surgeries to participate in "Hidden Singer 8." In particular, when the mimic "'Can't Give Up Younha'" shared that they listened to Younha's songs during important moments in their life, Younha became emotional, saying, "My goal is to sing the life BGM for someone," and "My reason for existing has been born."

In the fourth round, which determined the final winner, the competition took place with the hit song "Event Horizon." Younha expressed her surprise at the mimic "'Can't Give Up Younha'," whose voice was very similar to the original recording, saying, "Your pronunciation is like my early debut days. It seems like you studied that." While the judges failed to identify Younha, Paul Kim drew admiration for his high accuracy rate.
