Son Changmin's BTS-Level Popularity Goes Viral

Actor Son Chang-min spoke about his past popularity, relaying a director's comment about him having BTS-level fame. Appearing on MBN's 'Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night', he responded to the statement that he enjoyed BTS-level popularity by saying, "Me? I never said that, but the director mentioned it during a pre-interview. But is there any reason for me to refuse?" eliciting laughter.

Son Chang-min explained his popularity by describing the difference in the media environment then and now. He added, "Now there are hundreds of media outlets. Cable, OTT, they're all there if you turn them on. Back then, it had only been a few years since we switched from black and white to color, and there were only three media channels. Even movies were shown in single theaters."

When MC Moon Se-yoon asked, "Did high school girls follow you around when you walked down the street?", Son Chang-min mentioned the program 'Youth March', which he hosted, and spoke of his immense popularity at the time. He said, "When I appeared, students would scream. They would relieve themselves. On the audience chairs," causing the studio to be taken aback. Jo Jjaj said, "So that's where the expression 'they peed themselves' came from," unable to continue.

Son Chang-min revealed that he received an enormous amount of fan mail at the time. He added that he received up to 800 letters a day, and 3,000 letters during school breaks, giving a sense of his popularity back then.
