Director Chung Ji-young's new film, "My Name Is," will be released on the 15th. The film, which interweaves the years 1998 and 1949, contains a profound mystery and received critical acclaim at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. "My Name Is" follows the story of 18-year-old boy Yeong-ok (played by Shin Woo-bin), who wants to erase his unfashionable name, and his mother, Jeong-sun (played by Yeom Hye-ran), who tries to reclaim the painful memories of Jeju in 1949. The film was shot entirely on Jeju Island, breathing life and realism into its 78-year narrative.

Yeom Hye-ran delivers a captivating performance as the mother, Jeong-sun, dominating the screen. She has previously moved audiences with her emotional acting in other works. Newcomer Shin Woo-bin makes his film debut as Yeong-ok, showcasing a complex emotional performance. Additionally, Choi Jun-woo plays Yeong-ok's best friend, Min-su, demonstrating notable acting skills. Park Ji-bin takes on the role of the transfer student Gyeong-tae, adding tension to the plot. Coupled with director Chung Ji-young's meticulous direction, the film is expected to deliver a resonant message that breaks the silence left by tragedy.

The main point of interest in "My Name Is" lies in its narrative that juxtaposes the pain of two generations. In 1998, the boy Yeong-ok helplessly witnesses violence in the classroom. In 1949, Jeong-sun is revisited by the deep scars of Jeju. Within the connection that spans two eras – classroom violence and the tragedy of Jeju – the boy's name is sealed with a sad promise from half a century ago that his mother had to protect.

The deep synergy created by fresh faces like Shin Woo-bin, Choi Jun-woo, and Park Ji-bin, led by Yeom Hye-ran, along with actors spanning generations such as Kim Gyu-ri, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Yoon-ah, and Oh Ji-ho, is expected to deliver a profound resonance to the current generation, transcending past tragedies. The film "My Name Is," where Jeju's painful secrets, too burdensome to even remember, cross 78 years of time to blossom into a brilliant truth that pierces through the lives of two people, will be released in theaters on the 15th.
