K-drama Stars Goo Kyo-hwan & Go Youn-jung's Comforting Embrace

Writer Park Hae-young, along with actors Koo Kyo-hwan and Go Youn-jung, plans to offer a small comfort to viewers through JTBC's new Saturday-Sunday drama "Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness" (hereinafter referred to as "Mojamussa"). The production presentation, held on the 17th at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul, was attended by director Cha Young-hoon and actors Koo Kyo-hwan, Go Youn-jung, Oh Jung-se, Kang Mal-geum, Park Hae-joon, and Han Sun-hwa.

"Mojamussa" is a drama that depicts the process of a person who is struggling with envy and jealousy because they are the only one not succeeding among their talented friends, finding peace. Expectations are high as writer Park Hae-young of "My Mister" and "My Liberation Notes" and director Cha Young-hoon of "When the Camellia Blooms" and "Welcome to Samdal-ri" have joined forces.

Regarding the drama, director Cha Young-hoon explained, "We strive to be valuable and special people in life, but often feel emotions like envy and jealousy when comparing ourselves to others." He added, "This drama tells the story of Hwang Dong-man (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), the protagonist who has been preparing for his directorial debut for 20 years and is engulfed in feelings of worthlessness and self-loathing, overcoming these challenges with encouragement that 'you are valuable just by existing'." He further stated, "This is a work that offers a small comfort, not a success story, but the message that today's failures, frustrations, shame, and self-loathing are not unique to you but are experienced by everyone, and that there will be days to smile if you shake off your upset feelings and live your life."

Director Cha Young-hoon spoke about working with writer Park Hae-young, saying, "I didn't want to miss a single word of the script's stage directions. I wanted to express the ideal I felt, and the actors felt the same way." He continued, "The actors brought the script to life, embodying each word and action exactly as written in the stage directions, making me realize the hidden meanings in the dialogue. They truly strived to express it faithfully."

In the drama, Koo Kyo-hwan plays Hwang Dong-man, who has been preparing for his directorial debut for 20 years, and Go Youn-jung plays Byun Eun-ah, a planning producer at the film company Choi Film. Koo Kyo-hwan revealed his reason for joining the project: "When I first read the script, all I could think was, 'I really want to do this.' The character Hwang Dong-man felt so real that I wanted to make a movie with him." Go Youn-jung shared her thoughts, saying, "Working with writer Park Hae-young, I felt more excitement and gratitude than pressure. I had this strange feeling of 'They want to cast me?'"
