Kim Nam-gil Apologizes to Park Ji-hoon: Here's Why
Actor Kim Nam-gil revealed the reason he apologized to Park Ji-hoon regarding the character of Grand Prince Suyang he played. At a recent fan meeting, Kim Nam-gil mentioned the upcoming film 'Mongyudowondo' and spoke about himself and Park Bo-gum, who play Grand Prince Suyang and Grand Prince Anpyeong respectively in the movie.
Kim Nam-gil stated that he was concerned about public perception of his role as Grand Prince Suyang in 'Mongyudowondo' due to his previous experience playing the same character in the film 'The King and the Clown'. He expressed confidence, saying, "You'll see, but it's definitely a Suyang you've never seen before," but also sighed, "Ah, 'The King and the Clown'."

Kim Nam-gil then drew laughter by saying to Park Ji-hoon, "Ji-hoon, it wasn't Danjong. I truly didn't mean it that way. So, I sincerely apologize." He also expressed his concerns about the Grand Prince Suyang character, saying, "To all the audience members, I'm not that bad of a guy."
In a past variety show, 'Pinggyego', Kim Nam-gil had also expressed his concerns about public perception stemming from the success of 'The King and the Clown', despite his efforts not to objectify Grand Prince Suyang in 'Mongyudowondo'.
