The controversy arose when a notice recruiting staff for Woodz's world tour 'Archive.1' German concert spread through online communities. The notice stated they were recruiting 'daytime volunteers' for duties such as maintaining audience order and managing the merchandise booth, specifying that they would be unpaid, with meals provided and only the opportunity to watch the concert. The application requirements included proficiency in Korean, German, and English, preference for K-pop concert experience, and knowledge of lighting and sound.

In particular, a 'passion pay' controversy erupted because staff responsible for concert progress and operations were to be recruited without separate pay, only offering concert viewing. Criticism followed that they attempted to recruit personnel for professional tasks without pay, despite the concert tickets being priced at approximately 150,000 won for general admission and 420,000 won for VIP seats.

Woodz's agency stated, "We will closely consult with the local concert organizer regarding any shortcomings in concert operations to ensure necessary measures are taken." They also added, "We will strengthen communication with local partners and conduct more thorough and meticulous checks to ensure the overall concert operation process proceeds smoothly in the future," promising to prevent recurrence.
Woodz debuted in 2014 with the group UNIQ and later promoted with the group X1 through the Mnet audition program 'Produce X'. As a singer-songwriter, his recent song 'Drowning' has gained significant popularity through a resurgence. He is currently on his world tour 'Archive.1' and has upcoming performances in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany.
