62nd Baeksang Arts Awards Today: K-Drama & K-Pop Stars Shine
The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards will be held at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on May 8th at 7:50 PM. Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum, who are collaborating for the eighth time, will host the ceremony. Established in 1965 to foster the development of Korean popular culture and arts, the Baeksang Arts Awards, in addition to its existing three categories of broadcasting, film, and theater, has newly established a musical category this year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals.

The broadcasting category will feature key figures leading K-content. The teams behind the dramas 'Eunjung and Sangyeon' and 'Seoul of the Unknown' have each received six nominations, with many actors and production staff in attendance. In the entertainment category, nominees include Kian84, Kim Won-hoon, Choo Sung-hoon, Kim Yeon-koung, Seol In-ah, Lee Su-ji, Jang Do-yeon, and Hong Jin-kyung.
The film category will recognize works that have showcased the strength and artistic achievements of Korean cinema over the past year. The teams behind 'It Can't Be Helped' and 'The Man Who Lived With the King,' both nominated in seven categories including Best Picture, are receiving the most attention for their multiple nominations. The 'It Can't Be Helped' team, led by director Park Chan-wook, will be attended by cinematographer Kim Woo-hyung, and actors Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Lee Sung-min, and Yeom Hye-ran. The 'The Man Who Lived With the King' team will be attended by director Jang Hang-jun, and actors Yoo Hae-jin, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, and Park Ji-hoon.

In the theater category, nominees for the Baeksang Theater Award include director Park Hye-seon and writer Kim Min-jung for 'The Last Visit,' CEO Go Kang-min and actor Joo Min-jin for 'Mirror,' artistic director Park Jung-hee and director Lee Cheol-hee for 'Sam Maek Gyeong,' and director Ha Su-min and Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Arts Business Division Head Han Ji-yeon for 'End Wall - What Lies Beyond That Wall?'.
