Woodz Concert Staff Unpaid Controversy

Singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-youn) is facing controversy after it was revealed that unpaid staff were recruited from fans for his overseas tour concert. Recently, a notice recruiting staff for WOODZ's world tour 'Archive. 1' Germany performance spread across online communities.

The notice required professional qualifications such as proficiency in Korean, German, and English, K-pop concert experience, and knowledge of lighting and sound, while offering 'unpaid work', 'meals provided', and 'ability to watch the performance' as working conditions. The recruitment was for personnel to maintain audience order and manage merchandise booths.

Netizens reacted critically to this notice, stating, "Shouldn't they be taking better care of fans if they're recruiting them as staff?", "How can you enjoy the concert while working?", and "Ticket prices are 400,000 won, but labor costs are 0 won." The fact that WOODZ concert tickets were being sold for approximately 420,000 won for VIP seats and 150,000 won for general seats was particularly pointed out.

The person who wrote the notice explained, "It seems they are recruiting unpaid volunteers in exchange for the opportunity to watch the concert," and "It could be a good opportunity for fans of the artist." However, this only further angered netizens. The application period for the notice has now closed.

Regarding this controversy, WOODZ's agency, EDAM Entertainment, apologized, stating, "We sincerely apologize for not thoroughly reviewing the details of this matter beforehand." The agency confirmed the facts with the local concert organizer and stated that they would closely discuss any shortcomings in concert operations to ensure necessary measures are taken. They also added that they would strengthen communication with local partners and carefully review such matters in the future.
