Korean Singer Ok Hee Dies at 73 After Cancer Battle

Singer Ok Hee has passed away after battling cancer. According to the music industry on the 21st, Ok Hee passed away around 8:40 PM on the 20th at a hospice ward in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

Ok Hee debuted in 1974 with the group Seoul Sisters and was active overseas. She later made her solo debut with "I Don't Know" and gained significant popularity in Korea with songs like "Speak with Your Eyes."

"Grateful Love" and "Life Train," released in 2024, became the last songs left by the deceased. In March of this year, while undergoing treatment, she even showed her determination for musical activities by appearing on KBS's "Gayo Stage."

Ok Hee began dating former boxer Hong Soo-hwan in the late 1970s, and after breaking up, they reunited 16 years later. Hong Soo-hwan stayed by her side during her recent battle with kidney cancer. The couple has one son and one daughter.

The funeral hall will be set up at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, and the funeral will be held as the president of the Korea Singers Association.
