Shin Seo-ri tried to change the situation, but Lee Hyeon (Cha Se-gye) treated her coldly, saying, "I never had you in my heart. I never had a mere palace maid in my heart. Erase it. Me, and the memories." Kang Dan-shim (Shin Seo-ri) pleaded, "If you live, that person lives too," and Lee Hyeon finally smiled at her sincerity, saying, "I see why your gaze has become so bold." He added, "Don't worry. I'm used to being criticized, so I don't die easily. I will live."

In the end, Shin Seo-ri takes an arrow meant for Lee Hyeon, and Lee Hyeon falls off a cliff while holding her. Afterward, Cha Se-gye regains consciousness and finds Shin Seo-ri, but she is in a coma. Cha Se-gye regains his memories through a painting of a palace maid displayed in a museum and the diary of Prince Cheongheon, realizing that he must push Shin Seo-ri away for her safety.
Shin Seo-ri, suffering while having forgotten everything, wakes up upon hearing Cha Se-gye's voice, and the two are reunited as if by fate. Cha Se-gye embraces Shin Seo-ri and sobs, "How could you do that? How could you leave me alone," and "I thought I was going to die, I couldn't confess, I couldn't even say I love you."
