The film 'The King and the Man' has surpassed 14 million viewers, ranking 5th in box office history.

According to Showbox, 'The King and the Man' exceeded a cumulative audience of 14 million on the morning of the 20th, 45 days after its release. This makes it the 5th highest-grossing film released in Korea in terms of audience numbers, following 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents' (17.61 million), 'Extreme Job' (16.26 million), 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds' (14.41 million), and 'Ode to My Father' (14.25 million).

If this trend continues, 'The King and the Man' is expected to challenge the 15 million viewer mark. The current number of pre-booked tickets also stands at approximately 162,000.

The film is set in the Joseon Dynasty and tells the story of King Danjong, who was betrayed and deposed by his uncle, exiled to Cheongnyeongpo in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, and meets Eom Heung-do, the village chief. Yoo Hae-jin plays Eom Heung-do, and Park Ji-hoon plays King Danjong, with Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, Lee Joon-hyuk, and Ahn Jae-hong also starring. Jang Hang-jun directed the film.

'The King and the Man' surpassed 10 million viewers on the 6th, 31 days after its release, continuing the streak of 10 million-viewer films after 'Exhuma' and 'The Roundup: Punishment' in 2024, the first time in two years. It also surpassed Hollywood blockbusters such as 'Avengers: Endgame' (13.93 million), 'Frozen 2' (13.74 million), and 'Avatar' (13.62 million).
