Veteran Actress Kim Youngok Reunites With Teacher After 75 Years

Actress Kim Young-ok shared a touching moment on her YouTube channel where she reunited with her high school teacher after 75 years. The video was uploaded with the title, "A Tearful Reunion After 75 Years with a Teacher I Thought Had Passed Away."

Ahead of meeting her teacher, Kim Young-ok expressed her excitement, saying, "It feels like a miracle." She learned about her teacher's whereabouts by chance when she visited the restaurant of Ms. Woo Jeong-wook, known as 'Seoul Mom.' It turned out that Ms. Woo's father-in-law was the teacher who had encouraged Kim Young-ok to pursue acting in the past. Kim Young-ok was surprised and deeply moved to learn that her teacher was still alive.

On the way to the meeting, Kim Young-ok recalled her teacher, saying, "He wasn't someone who would just remain a Korean language teacher. He developed and developed, eventually becoming the Superintendent of Education." She added, "I don't know if he'll remember me when I see him. Even if he doesn't remember me, I felt I had to see him," revealing her cautious anticipation.

Upon arriving at the location, Kim Young-ok first greeted the teacher's son. The son informed her that his father has mild dementia, adding, "Sometimes he even gets confused about me." Kim Young-ok expressed her regret and her wish that her teacher was not suffering and was doing well.

With the family's consent, the YouTube production crew waited outside and recorded only the audio. When the teacher saw Kim Young-ok, he called her name in a clear voice and proudly said, "My speaking isn't great, but I have such an excellent student," bringing the scene to tears.
