BTS Economic Impact: $126 Million Boost

The concert by the group BTS in Mexico is expected to generate an economic effect of approximately 155.7 billion won. Upon news of BTS's visit to the Mexican Presidential Palace, about 70,000 citizens gathered in the Zócalo square in front of the palace, and even the Mexican President personally came out to welcome them.

The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce estimated that BTS's Mexico concert as part of their world tour would have an economic ripple effect of approximately $107.5 million (about 155.7 billion won). The concert is being held for three nights at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, and all performances have been completely sold out.

BTS had a conversation with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for about 40 minutes. When the members appeared on the presidential palace balcony with President Sheinbaum, the nearby Zócalo square was filled with fans and citizens. Handmade signs with messages such as "Welcome to Mexico" and "BTS is always in the heart of Mexico" appeared at the venue, and some fans shed tears of emotion.

President Sheinbaum had previously revealed plans for BTS's visit to the presidential office during a regular press conference, evaluating them as "a group that conveys messages of friendship, peace, and love." She also stated on social media, "We sincerely welcome BTS, one of the most beloved groups among Mexican youth," adding that "​music and values unite Mexico and Korea."

BTS continues their global success, topping the U.S. Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100' and the album chart 'Billboard 200' with their fifth full-length album 'ARIRANG' and title track 'SWIM', released in March.
