K-Trot Star Young Tak Appears on SBS Show, Tops Charts

Singer Young Tak ranked first in the Star Ranking Star Trot Male category. He secured first place with 204,024 votes, followed by Park Seo Jin in second place (189,739 votes) and Lee Chan Won in third place (35,160 votes). Jang Min Ho came in fourth (28,160 votes), and Lim Young Woong was fifth (8,736 votes). Young Tak recently announced his appearance on SBS's new variety show '​Our Neighborhood Golden Age', scheduled to premiere in August. Star Ranking determines rankings through fan voting, and stars who maintain first place for four consecutive weeks receive the special benefit of an outdoor billboard advertisement.

In JTBC's special documentary 'Project Blue: Young Tak's Hope Blues', Young Tak showed his compassionate actions by meeting children living in harsh conditions in Uganda, Africa. Young Tak visited the Moroto region of Uganda with the UNICEF Korea Committee, where he comforted children receiving treatment at a local hospital and experienced the reality of labor by working alongside children employed in mines. He supported a child who loved drawing by gifting a sketchbook and colored pencils, and participated in a meal sponsorship program at a school, helping with meal distribution.

Young Tak genuinely connected with the local children through song as he helped villagers pull a truck stuck in the mud. He stated, "I realized they are living in much tougher conditions than I imagined," adding that he learned a lot from the children who maintained their smiles. In particular, his encounters with Paska, a 10-year-old girl working in the mine to support her sick mother, his conversations with a child who enjoyed math, and his assistance with hospital treatments highlighted the depth of Young Tak's engagement. The documentary featured Young Tak's representative songs with narration, adding to the emotional impact. Following the broadcast, the UNICEF Korea Committee continued its regular donation campaign to support children in Uganda.

Young Tak recently successfully concluded his solo concert 'TAK SHOW4' and is showcasing his versatility as an all-around artist through acting and variety shows, including a special appearance in the Disney+ original series '​The Accidental Narco'. His new song '​Juicy Go', a collaboration with Kim Yeon Ja, is being loved for once again highlighting the joy of trot music. He was nominated for first place on SBS Life's 'The Trot Show' for 'Juicy Go', and he expanded his musical spectrum with his self-composed song '​Yesterday Was You, Today Is Also You'. Although Park Ji Hyun ultimately took first place, Young Tak maintained his position as a central figure in trot music, continuing his popularity by ranking third on the fan-centric chart 'Idol Chart'.

Young Tak, originally from Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk Province, gained widespread popularity after becoming the runner-up in TV Chosun's 'Tomorrow is Mr. Trot'. Based on his powerful vocals, approachable image, and diverse stage experience, he has established himself as a symbol of 'hope' and 'sincerity' through music, broadcasting, variety shows, acting, and good deeds. His warm interactions and actions in Uganda, in particular, resonated deeply beyond a mere celebrity image, and he continues his work as an adjunct professor fostering future talent. His ability to build trust and empathy across generations, expand the trot genre, and exert positive influence beyond national borders are the key elements defining Young Tak's present and future.
