So Ji-sub's Hunt Begins in 'Dr. Lawyer' Episode 2

SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Chief Kim' has set a new record by surpassing 15% viewership ratings in just two episodes. The second episode, aired on the 27th, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 15.7% according to Nielsen Korea. This is a historic achievement, marking the first time a drama across all channels has broken the 15% viewership mark within just two episodes since 'The Penthouse 3' in 2021. The viewership rating for the 2049 demographic also averaged 5.8% and peaked at 7.17%, ranking first not only among all programs on Saturday but also among all programs across all channels and genres broadcast during the week.

In the second episode, Chief Kim (played by So Ji-sub), shedding his ordinary family man persona to find his missing daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min), was shown awakening his hidden instincts as a legendary secret agent. The episode highlighted Chief Kim's past, where he infiltrated a North Korean special unit and kidnapped a hardline anti-South Korea deputy director, and the reason he sealed away all his past: his wife Yoo-jin's dying wish after giving birth to Min-ji.

Meanwhile, the full story behind the incident involving Min-ji was also revealed. Joo Hye-ri (played by Yoo Ji-an) and Nam Hoon (played by Kael)'s group lured Min-ji using Nam Hoon's phone and threatened her. It was also revealed that Joo Hye-ri is the daughter of Joo Kang-chan (played by Joo Sang-wook), the chairman of Joo Construction.

Returning to the present, Chief Kim raided Oh Min-cheol (played by Yoo Hee-je)'s hideout, showcasing his overwhelming combat prowess. When Oh Min-cheol taunted him, Chief Kim pulled out a pistol and shot him in the thigh, warning, "I'm keeping you alive because I believe Min-ji is still alive. If that's not the case, everyone dies." Upon seeing a text message on Oh Min-cheol's phone stating, "The girl's body has been disposed of," Chief Kim was devastated. However, a twist unfolded as Min-ji, inside the trunk, subtly moved her hand, revealing she was alive.

Believing Min-ji to be dead, Chief Kim was taken to the police station. During the investigation, when a call from a contact saved as 'My Daughter' came in on his confiscated phone, he showed a major reversal by subduing the detectives and snatching the phone. Simultaneously, the North Korean United Front Department confirmed Chief Kim's survival and dispatched elite soldier Kang Sung (played by Kim Sung-kyu) to South Korea to eliminate him, foreshadowing another threat.
