Park Myung Soo Hal Myung Soo Filming Halted

The filming of JTBC's web entertainment show "Hal Myung Soo," hosted by Park Myung Soo, has been temporarily suspended. The production team recently notified the cast, including Park Myung Soo, that "​filming for the program will be paused for a week." Although recordings were conducted every two weeks, the scheduled recording has been canceled.

While the production team announced a one-week recording cancellation, the next recording schedule has not yet been set, making the future of the program uncertain. However, videos are expected to be uploaded every Friday at 5:30 PM as usual until July. JTBC stated, "It is true that recent recordings were canceled, but future plans have not been finalized."

"Hal Myung Soo" is a web entertainment show produced by JTBC Digital Studio. Since its first release in August 2020, it has gained steady popularity and currently has 1.72 million subscribers. Hosted by Park Myung Soo, the show features various concepts such as talks with fellow celebrities and mukbangs.

This filming suspension appears to be related to the financial crisis currently faced by JTBC and major affiliates of its parent company, JoongAng Group. An insider stated, "I understand that filming is being paused temporarily due to internal restructuring needed because of the company's issues." Previously, the filming of JTBC's drama "Rediscovery of Love" was also suspended.

The financial crisis of JoongAng Group came to light on the 12th when JTBC declared a default on a 20.6 billion won ($15.7 million USD) short-term loan that it failed to repay upon maturity. Subsequently, JoongAng Holdings, JoongAng P&I, Contentree JoongAng, and Megabox JoongAng have successively filed for receivership. JTBC has also filed for receivership and expressed its desire to participate in the Autonomous Restructuring Support (ARS) program.
