Park Eun Bin & Cha Eun Woo's 'Wonderful World' Premieres

The Netflix series 'Wonderful World' will be released on the 15th. 'Wonderful World' is a superpowered comic adventure about neighborhood people who accidentally gain superpowers at the turn of the century in 1999, fighting against villains who threaten peace. It is expected to deliver unpredictable fun, cheerful laughter, and warm empathy through the events that unfold as imperfect characters gain superpowers. Director Yoo In-sik stated that he wanted to create a story that leaves a pleasant lingering feeling after the action and comedy, and it features a variety of genre fun, including the visual and auditory pleasure and spectacle of superpowers, as well as the emotion of a human drama.

Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Se-ju appear as the four main characters of Hae-seong City, who gain different superpowers such as teleportation, telekinesis, sticky goo, and super strength, respectively, showcasing unpredictable teamwork and chemistry. Kim Hae-sook and Son Hyun-ju anchor the drama, while Jung Yi-seo, Choi Yoon-ji, and Bae Na-ra add tension and fresh energy as the 'Wunderkinder' trio. Tax evasion allegations against lead actor Cha Eun-woo surfaced before the release, causing controversy. Cha Eun-woo received a notice from the Seoul Regional National Tax Service last year to pay approximately 20 billion won in income tax. He paid 13 billion won in April and apologized. Director Yoo In-sik explained at the production presentation that he learned about the news regarding Cha Eun-woo when the editing and post-production were almost complete, and no changes were made to his screen time as the project's completion was prioritized. He also stated that all actors, including Cha Eun-woo, enthusiastically embraced new challenges in their emotional and physical performances and were satisfied with the results.

'Wonderful World' highlights its worldview combining late-century sentiment with superpower elements, spectacular CG and action, and the actors' ensemble as key viewing points. In particular, expectations are high for the synergy created by the reunion of director Yoo In-sik, who helmed 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' with actors Park Eun-bin, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Se-ju. Director Yoo expressed his satisfaction with the casting and stated his ambition to "​also aim for number one globally."

Cha Eun-woo's tax controversy weighed as a burden on the drama's release. Cha Eun-woo was investigated by the National Tax Service regarding income distribution issues through a company registered under his mother's name and received a notice to pay approximately 20 billion won in taxes. He subsequently paid about 13 billion won and apologized. At the production presentation, Director Yoo mentioned that he learned about the news regarding Cha Eun-woo through articles and emphasized that post-production was carried out with the drama's completion as the top priority. While avoiding specific comments on Cha Eun-woo's personal issues, he added that the actor enthusiastically participated and was satisfied with the outcome.
