Korean Actor Jang Dong-joo Announces Retirement After 7 Months

Actor Jang Dong-joo has suddenly announced his retirement after 7 months. He revealed on his Instagram early on the 15th, "I intend to lay down my life as an actor as of today."

Jang Dong-joo recalled, "I have lived under the name of an actor for a long time and received so much love and support," stating that all the moments he laughed and cried in front of the camera were the brightest moments of his life. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the directors, staff, and fellow actors who believed in and worked with him despite his shortcomings, and said he was able to walk this path happily thanks to his fans. He bid farewell, saying that although he is leaving the stage, he will never forget the feelings his fans sent him for the rest of his life.

Previously, in October of last year, Jang Dong-joo had gone missing after posting a short message saying "I'm sorry" and then becoming unreachable. At the time, his agency stated that they could not contact him, but after a few hours, they confirmed his whereabouts and reported that fortunately, it was not a bad situation. About a month later, in November, Jang Dong-joo apologized for the difficulty in communication due to personal circumstances, explaining that he needed time to sort himself out.

Jang Dong-joo recently appeared as Hyun Woo-seok in the SBS drama 'My Man is Cupid', working alongside actors Kim Hye-yoon and Rowoon.
