Lee Min Jung's Bold Gyaru Style Transformation

Actress Lee Min-jung is drawing attention for her dramatic transformation into a 'gyaru' style. The public's interest is focused on her new attempt, showcasing a striking visual that even her husband, actor Lee Byung-hun, wouldn't recognize.

Lee Min-jung uploaded a video titled "If You're Going to Do It, Do It Right. Lee Min-jung Becomes a Real Local Gyaru Girl" to her YouTube channel 'Lee Min-jung MJ'. In the video, she revealed the process of attempting 'gyaru' makeup, a unique subculture from Japan. 'Gyaru' is a term referring to a distinct fashion and makeup style that originated in Japan in the 1990s and was popular into the early 2000s. It is typically characterized by tanned or very pale skin, heavy eyeliner emphasizing the eyes, exaggerated eyelashes, and flamboyant hairstyles and nail art.

As she began her makeup, Lee Min-jung expressed her curiosity about gyaru culture and its makeup techniques. She showed herself enjoying the transformation, even striking gyaru poses in the mirror at her unfamiliar reflection. However, regarding the clothing, accessories, and nail art that would pose limitations in daily life, she humorously remarked, "The world of gyaru is long and arduous. There's so much to endure. It's really difficult," eliciting laughter.

After a lengthy transformation, Lee Min-jung, in her full gyaru attire, visited a nearby convenience store with her staff. Citizens were surprised to see her in such a striking outfit. Lee Min-jung said, "I have to pretend I'm not Korean right now," and added, "​Korean people are very polite," to the citizens who kindly pretended not to notice her out of consideration.

Regarding this transformation, Lee Min-jung expressed her satisfaction, saying, "It's like being able to experience something you haven't experienced before." She debuted in the 2004 film 'My Lovely Sam Soon' and has solidified her position as a top actress through numerous projects. She married actor Lee Byung-hun in 2013 and they have one son and one daughter. Recently, she has been actively communicating with the public through social media and YouTube.
