Cha Eunwoo & Park Eunbin's 'Wonderful World' Fashion

The Netflix original series "Wonderful World" will premiere worldwide on May 15th. This drama is a reunion project between director Yoo In-sik of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and actress Park Eun-bin, and boasts a solid cast including Cha Eun-woo, Kim Hae-sook, and Son Hyun-joo. The title "Wonderful World" carries the double meaning of "Wonderful" and "Wonder Fools," which sounds similar. The script was written by Heo Da-jung, who participated in the adaptation of the movie "Extreme Job."

The drama is set in the end of the millennium in 1999, a time when doomsday theories were rampant. In the fictional city of Haeseong, ordinary people gain superpowers and fight against the villainous organization "Wunderkind," which threatens the city's peace. The 1999 setting utilizes the end-of-the-century sensibility, fashion, culture, and the unique anxiety and chaos of Y2K of that era as the emotional core of the story, evoking nostalgia for those in their 30s-50s and a retro sensibility for the younger generation.

Key characters include Eun Chae-na, played by Park Eun-bin, who suffers from a heart condition but is driven to achieve anything she sets her mind to, and gains teleportation superpowers. Cha Eun-woo plays Lee Woon-jeong, a mysterious public official with many secrets and poor social skills, who uses telekinesis superpowers and is called "Master" by Eun Chae-na, adding a comedic element. Choi Dae-hoon plays Son Kyung-hoon, who has the "useless sticky" superpower, and Im Seon-jae plays Kang Ro-bin, who has the "nuisance power" superpower, both confronting villains despite their flawed abilities. Kim Hae-sook plays Kim Jeon-bok, Eun Chae-na's grandmother and owner of Keunson Sikdang, appearing as a character with a glamorous yet dark past.

The casting of "Wonderful World" features intricate connections among the actors. Park Eun-bin and Im Seon-jae are meeting for the second time since "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," while Park Eun-bin, Choi Dae-hoon, and Kim Hae-sook are working together for the third time. Son Hyun-joo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Kim Hae-sook are also reuniting for the third time, and Son Hyun-joo and Park Eun-bin are meeting again after 11 years.

While the subject matter is the same as Disney+'s "Moving," the direction is different. "Moving" was a heavy human noir dealing with national security and past secrets, whereas "Wonderful World" initially presents itself as a comic adventure. The origin of the superpowers is also an accidental event, and the main source of fun comes from the chaotic situations arising from the inability to properly control their powers. If "Moving" brought tears, "Wonderful World" focuses on delivering laughter.
