IU & Byun Woo-seok Reunite Amid Fire Scare

In the 10th episode of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Grand Heir of the 21st Century,' Sung Hee-ju (played by IU) and Grand Prince Ian (played by Byun Woo-seok) confirmed their feelings for each other and reunited, but faced another crisis. Sung Hee-ju visited her father, Sung Hyun-guk (played by Jo Seung-yeon), to ask for help for Grand Prince Ian, who was in trouble due to the revelation of their contract marriage. Sung Hyun-guk advised, "​Divorce. Embrace all that could be suspicious and divorce," stating that Sung Hee-ju had to prevent herself from becoming Grand Prince Ian's weakness and being attacked.

Afterward, Sung Hee-ju told Grand Prince Ian harsh words she didn't mean, informing him of their divorce. Facing the royal family in the royal court, Sung Hee-ju declared, "​I am the one who desperately sought social advancement, the suspect in the Zhonghua Hall fire, and the one who collapsed after taking medicine. I will divorce. Have me deposed," she announced. She also clarified that there was no contractual relationship with the royal family and requested to be cut off. Grand Prince Ian, reacting to Sung Hee-ju's unilateral decision, said, "​You said you didn't want to lose more. That's why you want to divorce. But what if you come at me prepared to lose everything? However, Sung Hee-ju eventually found Grand Prince Ian and confessed, "I want to be with you. I love you," and the two reaffirmed their feelings for each other with a reunion kiss. Meanwhile, Grand Prince Ian received an abdication decree. When Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) tried to dissuade him, Grand Prince Ian said, "​The problem is that the King is being set up as a puppet and manipulated," and declared, "It's time to be in front, not behind or beside the King," enraging Yoon Yi-rang. At the end of the broadcast, a fire broke out in the royal court, and Sung Hee-ju's shocked reaction upon learning that Grand Prince Ian was inside heightened the tension to its peak.
