Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung at Cannes Film Festival

The SF thriller film "Hope" will have its world premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in the competition section. Director Na Hong-jin and actors Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell have confirmed their attendance at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the film "Hope," Hwang Jung-min plays Bum-seok, the head of the Hopo Port substation, Jo In-sung plays the village youth Sung-gi, and Jung Ho-yeon plays the police officer Sung-ae. Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell, who portray alien characters through motion capture and facial capture, will also be attending to share a special moment with film fans worldwide.

Director Na Hong-jin and the cast will attend the red carpet and world premiere held at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on the 17th at 9:30 PM local time. The following day, the 18th, they are scheduled to meet with international press at an official photocall and press conference.

"Hope" tells the story of the head of the Hopo Port substation, located in the demilitarized zone, who hears news of a tiger's appearance from the local youth. As the entire village falls into a state of emergency, he confronts an unbelievable reality. In addition to Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, the film features Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender, and is directed by Na Hong-jin, director of "The Chaser," "The Yellow Sea," and "The Wailing." It is scheduled to be released this summer.

Six stills from "Hope" were recently revealed for the first time. The released stills capture tense moments: Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min) outside a foggy window in a dark space, Sung-gi (Jo In-sung) aiming a gun in a deep forest, and Sung-ae (Jung Ho-yeon) holding a gun in a destroyed village. These images heighten expectations for the film's original mise-en-scène and unique visual appeal.
