BTS V's Mexico Fans Go Wild

BTS received a warm welcome from local fans as they held a concert in Mexico for the first time in nine years. The first performance, held at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, was realized after a long wait, leading to an explosion of fan excitement. Mexican fans welcomed BTS in the Zócalo square area, where the National Palace is located, holding placards and photos. The Spanish phrase "Mucho picante" (It's very spicy), mentioned by V during the concert, garnered a massive reaction, becoming a major headline for local news channels and spreading like a meme on social media. Local media outlet El Financiero showed great interest, highlighting V's Spanish skills and his past filming experiences in Mexico. As a special gift for V, fans installed a commemorative plaque engraved with V's real name, 'Kim Taehyung,' on the silver wall of the 'Museo de Arte Popular (MAP)' in the heart of Mexico City. Fans described it as "a space created with respect, memories, and affection." In his closing remarks, V sincerely addressed the fans in Spanish, saying, "I really missed you, Mexican ARMY. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed BTS's visit to Mexico and, along with the BTS members, appeared on the balcony of the National Palace to greet the approximately 50,000 fans gathered in Zócalo square. President Sheinbaum introduced BTS as "one of the most beloved groups by Mexican youth" and emphasized that "music and values connect Mexico and Korea." She also revealed that she had requested BTS to visit Mexico again next year, eliciting cheers from the fans.

BTS's concerts in Mexico City began on the 7th and will continue on the 9th and 10th. The fact that all three days of performances were sold out early demonstrates the fervent passion of the local fandom. This visit to the National Palace is being evaluated not just as a concert but as a scene showcasing the cultural fervor of the local youth, serving as an opportunity to highlight K-pop's presence within Mexican popular culture.
