Um Ji Young Apologizes for National Anthem Controversy

Um Ji-young, the vocalist of the band Keunggeurim, has apologized for the controversy surrounding her rendition of the national anthem at a baseball game.

Um Ji-young stated on her official social media on the 17th, "I apologize for causing discomfort with my performance of the national anthem." She added, "​My thoughts and skills were insufficient while preparing for the national anthem."

She continued, "It was a truly big and exciting stage for me, and I sincerely apologize to everyone at NC for causing them any embarrassment." She also said, "​I am grateful for all the critical comments and comforting direct messages. I will work harder with a humbler attitude and return with a better performance."

Finally, she added, "Above all, I bow my head once again and sincerely apologize to everyone who felt displeased by my rendition of the national anthem."

Previously, Um Ji-young was in charge of singing the national anthem before the game between the NC Dinos and the Kiwoom Heroes at Changwon NC Park on the 16th. However, her singing style, which included excessive embellishments and ad-libs, drew criticism for being over the top.
