Heo Namjun Blazes New Trail in Romantic Comedy

The production presentation for SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Wonderful New World' was held. Actors Lim Ji-yeon, Heo Nam-jun, Jang Seung-jo, Kim Min-seok, Lee Se-hee, and director Han Tae-seop attended the event. The drama is a romantic comedy about Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress possessed by the soul of Kang Dan-shim, a notorious villainess from the Joseon Dynasty, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a chaebol heir called a 'monster born of capitalism.'

Director Han Tae-seop highlighted actress Lim Ji-yeon as the biggest strength of the production, explaining, "The unpredictable story of the character Kang Dan-shim, who gets a second chance at life in modern times after drinking poison, is the strength." He added, regarding Lim Ji-yeon's ability to portray various genres including comedy, romance, historical drama, and action, "Actress Lim Ji-yeon truly handled a wide range of scenes. Lim Ji-yeon is the competition."

Lim Ji-yeon expressed her confidence in the project, saying, "I pulled out all my abilities to the point where I thought, 'Do I really have to do this?'" She continued, "I wanted to portray a female character never seen before in existing dramas. I poured my heart and soul into expressing and creating it. To be honest, I am very confident." Lim Ji-yeon revealed that the biggest reason she chose 'Wonderful New World' was because of the 'comedy' genre.

Heo Nam-jun introduced his character, Cha Se-gye, as "a rational and sharp individual specialized in business, but a character who changes when someone he wants to protect enters his life." He expressed great satisfaction with his chemistry with Lim Ji-yeon, stating, "It was amazing. It's one of the best I've experienced in my life." Lim Ji-yeon reciprocated, saying, "I can't imagine Cha Se-gye without Nam-jun, he was my great vitamin." Both actors confidently asserted that viewers could fully expect their romantic chemistry.

Jang Seung-jo will showcase a new villainous performance as Cha Moon-do, the heir of Cha Il Group, who hides his ambition behind a gentle facade. He said, "He is a character with restraint, and I want to show the birth of a different kind of evil." Kim Min-seok will play Baek Kwang-nam, who becomes Shin Seo-ri's manager at her suggestion, despite being rivals in a shared living space, and vowed to deliver a realistic performance. Lee Se-hee will play top star Yoon Ji-hyo, Shin Seo-ri's rival, adding glamour to the cast. She introduced her character as "a charming character who doesn't want her vulnerable inner thoughts to be revealed."
