Netflix's Top Predator: Human or Beast?

Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho, who are appearing in Season 2 of the Netflix series "Beef," have once again proven the power of Korean actors by showcasing their unique presence among Hollywood's top stars. Season 2 is a black comedy that depicts a young couple getting caught up in an incident against the backdrop of a high-society country club. Youn Yuh-jung plays Chairwoman Park, the owner of the country club and a billionaire, exuding overwhelming charisma. Chairwoman Park is a "top predator" character who controls people with her immense wealth and power, not hesitating to engage in illegal activities. This role starkly contrasts with the humble immigrant character Youn Yuh-jung portrayed in "Minari." In particular, a scene where she forces respect from the general manager, highlighting the status of an "Asian female authority figure," has garnered a heated response on social media.

Song Kang-ho appears as Chairwoman Park's husband, 20 years her junior, showcasing a transformation by skillfully portraying a foolish and dependent "trophy husband" character. Collider praised Song Kang-ho's monologue in the latter half, stating, "He simultaneously embodied pathos and humor." IGN noted that despite Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho not having extensive screen time, "not a single glance was wasted," and assessed that Season 2 would not have reached the level of 'excellence' without them.
