In the first episode of the tvN drama 'The Legend of the Mess Hall Soldier,' the character Kang Sung-jae, played by actor Park Ji-hoon, brought laughter to viewers with his unwavering seriousness even in pathetic situations. Kang Sung-jae exhibited symptoms of depression and gaming addiction. His mother runs a tteokbokki food truck, and his father recently passed away, leading to him being classified as a "S-class person of interest" in every aspect.

Before enlisting, Kang Sung-jae worked various part-time jobs. During his military service, he caused misunderstandings among those around him with his actions of hearing phantom game announcement voices and seeing game selection screens. Kang Sung-jae was bullied from his first meal, but he received help from Yoon Dong-hyun, the only mess hall soldier.
