Jessica Airport Fashion Scent Controversy

Jessica, a former member of the group Girls' Generation, has personally stepped forward to clarify a misunderstanding after a controversy arose when she appeared to gag in front of fans upon her arrival at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

On the 13th, Jessica stated via a social network service (SNS) live broadcast, "It was absolutely not the case that the fans smelled bad."

Previously, a video circulated on online communities and SNS showing Jessica, surrounded by fans as she moved through the airport, looking to her left, covering her nose, and appearing to gag. This video sparked criticism among netizens, with some suggesting "it was because of the fans' smell," and various opinions, including "bad smells can be hard to tolerate."

Following the controversy, Jessica explained the situation during the live broadcast, stating, "A fan mentioned it was their birthday, so I asked their age, and they replied twenty-one. They were so young that I was surprised, thinking, 'How does such a young person know me and come here?'" She also admitted to failing to manage her facial expressions at the time, saying, "My expression might have been too much."

Jessica debuted as a member of Girls' Generation in 2007 and left the group in 2014. She is currently pursuing her fashion business and activities in China. Recently, she garnered attention by appearing on the Coupang Play entertainment program "SNL Korea Season 8" with her younger sister, Krystal.
