Following the controversy, Jessica explained the situation during the live broadcast, stating, "A fan mentioned it was their birthday, so I asked their age, and they replied twenty-one. They were so young that I was surprised, thinking, 'How does such a young person know me and come here?'" She also admitted to failing to manage her facial expressions at the time, saying, "My expression might have been too much."
