K-Drama 'Doctor Shin' Hits 2.3% Viewership

The final episode of TV Chosun's weekend mini-series 'Doctor Shin' concluded with a viewership rating of 2.3%. The last episode depicted a shocking ending where genius doctor Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan) met his death, and his brain was transplanted into a retriever.

In the drama, the body of Geum Ba-ra (played by Ju Se-bin), whose brain had been replaced with Kim Jin-ju's (played by Chun Young-min), died. Mo-mo (played by Baek Seo-ra), who had Geum Ba-ra's brain, looked on with pity as Ha Yong-jung (played by Ahn Woo-yeon) was consumed by grief. Amidst Buddhist rites being performed at a temple, Kim Jin-ju's soul, which had no legs, appeared and made a bizarre face, sticking out its tongue at the monk's words, "Let go of all your attachments and leave."

Later, it was revealed that Shin Ju-shin had intentionally caused Kim Jin-ju's brain to die, delivering a shock. Mo-mo met Shin Ju-shin and confessed that she would not reveal she was Geum Ba-ra to Ha Yong-jung, and that she had given birth to Ha Yong-jung's child. At the same time, Kim Jin-ju's biological father, Kim Kwang-chul (played by Cha Kwang-soo), realized that Mo-mo was no longer his daughter and that Kim Jin-ju had chosen the brain transplant herself to avoid him. Kim Kwang-chul went to find Shin Ju-shin. Shin Ju-shin, who was stabbed, died while thinking of Geum Ba-ra.

In the final scene, Ha Yong-jung entered Shin Ju-shin's family home. When Mo-mo said "I love you" to the retriever in the yard, the retriever transformed into Shin Ju-shin, depicting a strange scene.

'Doctor Shin' garnered attention as the first medical thriller attempted by writer Im Sung-han, who also wrote 'See and See Again' and 'The Mermaid Princess'. The viewership rating, which started at 1.4% for the first episode, remained stagnant throughout the broadcast before concluding with its highest rating in the final episode.
