Taemin Makes Coachella Debut

Taemin, a member of the group SHINee and a solo artist, has become the first Korean male solo artist to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, America's largest music festival. He took the stage at Coachella's Mojave Tent on April 11 (local time) in Indio, California, for a solo performance lasting about 50 minutes. Through his agency, Galaxy Corporation, Taemin shared his thoughts, saying, "I have long awaited this moment to stand on the Coachella stage. I am truly happy to share this time with so many people today, and I will continue to repay you with even better performances and music."

Taemin's Coachella performance began with a symbolic opening utilizing a 'Sphere'. The production, where he emerged by breaking out of a giant egg shape, visualized the message of 'self-liberation,' signifying freedom from hardship and original sin imposed by others. In this section, Taemin performed "Sexy In The Air" and "WANT," along with new songs "Permission" and "PARASITE." Notably, the new English song "PARASITE," which addresses the theme of 'hate' in modern society, featured a striking production where translated lyrics and quotes were projected onto the stage using a projector beam.

The middle part of the performance featured Taemin's signature songs, including "MOVE," "Guilty," and "Heaven," followed by explosive energy delivered through new songs "Frankenstein," "Advice," and "IDEA." In the latter half, he presented stages for "Let Me Be The One," "Sober," and "1004 (Oct 4th)," unveiling a total of six new songs for the first time at Coachella. The atmosphere was electric, with the Mojave Tent packed with tens of thousands of fans, and singalongs were heard even for the Korean lyrics. Taemin's performance was also widely discussed on social media.

This Coachella performance is significant as it marks Taemin's first global endeavor since moving to Galaxy Corporation. He is scheduled to return to the Coachella stage for a second performance on April 18 (local time). Taemin conveyed, "I will cherish this moment for a long time, and I hope it becomes a good memory for all of you as well."
