Taemin Makes History: First K-pop Solo Male Act at Coachella

Singer Taemin became the first Korean male solo artist to perform on the Coachella stage in the United States. According to his agency, Galaxy Corporation, Taemin performed for approximately 50 minutes on the Mojave Stage at the "2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival" held in Indio, California, on April 11 (local time). This marks the first time a Korean male solo artist has been officially included in the Coachella lineup and presented a solo stage.

The performance began with an iconic opening utilizing 'Sphere.' The visual of breaking out of a giant egg-shaped sphere visualized the message of 'self-liberation.' In this segment, Taemin performed 'Sexy In The Air,' followed by 'WANT,' and his new songs 'Permission' and 'PARASITE.' Notably, his new English song 'PARASITE' delivered a message about 'hate' in modern society, and the production, using project beams, impressively projected lyrics translated into Korean and quotes onto the stage.

The mid-performance section featured Taemin's signature stages, 'MOVE,' 'Guilty,' and 'Heaven,' followed by the new song '​Frankenstein,' and then 'Advice' and 'IDEA' to radiate energy. In the latter half, he consecutively presented 'Let Me Be The One,' 'Sober,' and '1004(Oct 4th),' making an unprecedented move by premiering a total of six new songs at Coachella.

After the performance, Taemin shared his thoughts through his agency, stating, "I have long awaited this moment to stand on the Coachella stage," and "I am truly happy to share this time with so many people today, and I will continue to repay you with even better stages and music." He added, "I will cherish this moment for a long time, and I hope it becomes a good memory for all of you as well."

The atmosphere at the venue was electric, with the Mojave Stage packed with tens of thousands of fans. The audience's 'sing-along' to the Korean lyrics made Taemin's global influence palpable, and accolades poured in, calling it "the pinnacle of artistic depth a K-pop solo artist can showcase."
