Through this project, Park Bo-young takes on a crime genre for the first time in her career, revealing hidden desires. The character she plays, Hee-ju, obtains 150 billion won worth of gold from a smuggling ring and then acts according to her desires to protect it. Park Bo-young stated, "I wanted to challenge myself as it's my first crime genre drama," and that she chose the project because director Kim Sung-hoon said, "People tend to think of me as someone who would just return money, but if someone like that doesn't return it, I thought viewers might see it differently." She also shared that she filmed the drama with weight loss and minimal makeup to portray the character.

Director Kim Sung-hoon expressed his affection for Park Bo-young, praising her courage in taking on her first crime genre role and her delicate portrayal of small changes.
Kim Sung-cheol plays 'Woo-gi', a low-level employee at a loan shark company who is the first to notice that Hee-ju has the gold bars. He mentioned that he constantly called Park Bo-young "Noona" (older sister) on set, and shared an anecdote where Park Bo-young, parodying the Blackpink song 'Jennie', sang "Noona, Noona" to him, drawing laughter. Park Bo-young said of Kim Sung-cheol, "I wondered if I would have had a brother like him if I had one."
