Jeon Sonee's Shaman Role Shines in New K-Drama

The Netflix series "Gyeongseong Creature" depicts high school students who struggle to escape a curse from an app called "Gyeongseong Creature," which foretells their sudden deaths. Jeon So-nee plays "​Haesal," a shaman who aids the protagonists and pursues the truth behind the curse, heightening the drama's tension.

Director Park Yoon-seo explained his casting of Jeon So-nee as "Haesal," stating that in "Gyeongseong Creature," which features many rookie actors, "there was a definite need for a stable actor who could provide acting support to the newcomers." As if to meet the director's expectations, Jeon So-nee enhanced the drama's immersion with her solid yet profound performance.

"Haesal," portrayed by Jeon So-nee, is the older sister of the protagonist Hajun (played by Hyun Woo-seok) and is a character who left her corporate job to walk the path of a shaman. "Haesal" discerns that the "Gyeongseong Creature" app is not a mere program but "a curse created by a vengeful spirit," identifying the essence of the crisis the children face and providing clues to resolve the incident.

Especially whenever the protagonist Sea (played by Jeon So-young) is on the brink of life and death in the cursed space, "Haesal" acts as a guiding light for the drama, protecting Sea with spiritual insight and resolute charisma.

Jeon So-nee convincingly portrayed the potentially complex shamanistic settings with her unique calm yet powerful acting, empowering the protagonists to confront the immense terror. Among the rookie actors, including Jeon So-young, Baek Sun-ho, and Hyun Woo-seok, Jeon So-nee's experienced acting synergy was praised for perfectly maintaining the drama's balance.
