Veteran Actress Jeon Wonju Diagnosed With Dementia, Family Conflict Feared

Actress Jeon Won-ju appeared on the TV Chosun entertainment program 'Perfect Life' and confessed to being diagnosed with early-stage dementia. She revealed that she is experiencing difficulties in daily life due to memory loss.

On the broadcast, Jeon Won-ju shared, "Lately, I've been forgetting things more often. I sometimes don't recognize people, which leads to misunderstandings, and I worry because I know their faces but can't recall their names." She added, "The other day, someone treated me to a meal, but I couldn't remember, which was quite embarrassing. I'm now making it a habit to take notes."

She stated that in addition to her worries about forgetfulness, she is working hard on her health by singing, dancing, and hiking to avoid becoming a burden to her children and those around her. Jeon Won-ju spoke of the pain of dementia, mentioning the experience of her closest friend developing dementia and not recognizing her.

A medical professional appearing on the broadcast diagnosed her with mild cognitive impairment, which is the stage before dementia, after reviewing Jeon Won-ju's test results and daily life.

Born in 1939, Jeon Won-ju is known to possess considerable assets, including 3 billion won in stocks, 1 billion won in gold, a building in Sinchon, Seoul, and an apartment in Cheongdam-dong. She previously mentioned her assets on broadcasts and her personal channel, sparking discussion when she said, "​I need to spend it before I go.
