The horror film 'Salmokji,' starring Kim Hye-yun, is sailing smoothly, on the verge of surpassing 1.5 million viewers after already breaking the 1 million mark.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie admissions, 'Salmokji' mobilized 211,510 viewers on the 18th alone, recording a cumulative audience of 1,300,202.

'Salmokji' is a horror film that tells the story of what happens when an unidentified figure appears on the road view of 'Salmokji,' and the film crew, heading to the reservoir for reshoots, encounters something in the deep water.

On its tenth day of release, the 17th, the film surpassed 1 million cumulative viewers and, on the 18th, attracted over 200,000 viewers in a single day, moving towards breaking the 2 million viewer mark.

'Salmokji,' Kim Hye-yun's first leading role in a horror film, is drawing attention as a 'spring representative horror box office hit,' following in the footsteps of 'Gonjiam.' The film is creating a horror syndrome, and interest in Salmokji, the filming location, is also increasing. In Yesan-gun, Chungnam, where the actual Salmokji is located, nighttime access restrictions have been implemented due to crowds gathering at night. The film is gaining syndromic popularity, especially among the young Gen Z generation, and attention is focused on whether 'Salmokji' can surpass the box office record of 'Gonjiam.'
