K-Drama 'Monstrous' Stars Goo Kyo Hwan, Go Youn Jung Top Charts

JTBC's drama "Everything Will Be Fine" (tentatively translated, hereafter "EWBFF") is receiving critical acclaim from viewers, ranking first on Netflix's 'Top 10 Series in South Korea Today'. This achievement was reached within just two episodes of its premiere. The drama also secured the second spot in the 3rd week of April's TV-OTT drama buzzworthiness survey conducted by Good Data Corporation's FUNdex, an organization that analyzes K-content competitiveness. Cast members Goo Kyo-hwan ranked third and Go Youn-jung ranked sixth, demonstrating their high popularity.

At the press conference, director Cha Young-hoon revealed his intention to not miss a single line or stage direction from writer Park Hae-young. His sincerity was realized through meticulous mise-en-scène that captured the characters' struggles and fleeting emotions, immersing viewers in the drama when combined with writer Park Hae-young's profound insights.

The directorial flair was further expanded through fantasy-like imagination, utilizing the protagonists' setting as film directors. Sequences like Hwang Dong-man creating a sunny day in his room, or Park Kyung-se's anger being given a genre-bending variation, transformed the potentially heavy atmosphere of the drama into something warm and delightful, offering fresh catharsis. In particular, Hwang Dong-man's 'Billy Elliot' ending scene, which perfected the aesthetic of a brilliant ascent drawn from worthlessness, was chosen as the best scene of episodes 1-2.

Writer Park Hae-young sharply confronted viewers with their inner feelings of worthlessness, providing deep emotional purification through insights that delved into the painful aspects of reality.
