Hidden Singer 8: Turtleman Tribute Stage

The late Turtleman will meet fans again through JTBC's 'Hidden Singer 8'. On the 18th anniversary of his passing, Turtleman will appear as the original singer this season, competing against vocal impersonators who will recreate his voice.

The production team of JTBC's 'Hidden Singer 8' recently released a teaser video, announcing Turtleman's appearance. The video featured Turtleman's past activities along with the group Geobuk's hit song 'Bingo', and scenes from the waiting room, evoking nostalgia among fans. The lyrics 'Sing one song' and the infinity symbol (∞), a symbol of 'Hidden Singer 8', appeared, heightening viewers' curiosity.

Turtleman was active as the rapper and producer of the group Geobuk, receiving great love from the public with songs containing hopeful messages such as 'Sagye', 'Bingo', 'Sing La La', 'Waerae', and 'Binaegi'. His unique voice and music are remembered by many, and anticipation is high for the emotional performance he will deliver with the vocal impersonators on the 'Hidden Singer 8' stage.

Turtleman debuted in 2001 with the group Geobuk, showing exceptional talent in songwriting, composing, and producing. He passed away suddenly on April 2, 2008, at the age of 38 due to acute myocardial infarction, and his remains are interred at Utopia Memorial Park in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province. In 2021, he delivered a deeply moving performance with the complete Geobuk group through Mnet's 'AI Music Project Again', showcasing a restored version of himself.

This season, 'Hidden Singer 8' has hinted at the possibility of creating a special memorial by including the names of deceased singers such as the late Kim Sung-jae, the late Turtleman, and the late Yoo Jae-ha on the list of contestants. This is expected to add a layer of remembrance to the season, similar to how previous seasons delivered profound resonance to fans through episodes dedicated to the late Kim Kwang-seok, the late Shin Hae-chul, and the late Kim Hyun-sik.
