The t-shirt had a phrase written in Dutch, and the word 'NEGER' in particular was pointed out as problematic. This word was historically used to refer to Black people but is now considered racist. Furthermore, the accompanying phrase 'EEN GEILE' was also interpreted as containing sexual connotations, escalating the controversy.

This controversy has also led to criticism from international fans.
As the controversy spread, G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corporation, issued an official apology on the 4th. The agency stated, "We sincerely apologize for the inclusion of phrases in the performance outfit that are inappropriate in their social and cultural context."
